One of the greatest marvels for visitors coming to Rome for the first time are its many “layers”.

These layers are the remains from different historical periods of a city which was constantly being rebuilt on its old grounds.

In this tour I hope you will physically “experience!” these layers – starting from the underground ruins of the Vicus Caprarius near Fontana di Trevi with his residential buildings and the remains of the Virgin Aqueduct, and then going above ground to the reused ruins of Piazza di Pietra and the Pantheon, where you will see how ancient structures were often reused.

Eventually we will reach one of the most beautiful composite pieces of architecture in all of Rome: Castel S. Angelo, where the Popes built a fabulous castle right on top of Hadrian’s grave! (a castle which to this day has never been conquered).
